Patagonia Tours12-day Adventure (Includes Cruise)On this excursion through Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia, we make all the arrangements, including accommodations, transfers, transportation and guided local tours. 1st Day: Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, Argentina, you are met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, tour the city, including the Plaza de Mayo and the “Pink House,” the colorful neighborhoods and the famous cemetery where Evita is buried. In the evening, sample one of the city’ hundreds of fabulous restaurants, and take a walk in the pedestrian-only Calle Florida and watch the colorful street vendors and performers. 2nd Day: Transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on the world. In the afternoon, take a ride on the historic Train to the End of the World, arriving in Tierra del Fuego National Park, with its beech forests, lakes and myriad birds, including black-chested buzzard eagles and Andean condors. 3rd Day: Spend the day exploring downtown Ushuaia, where you can visit the wonderful historical museum in the old prison. Then transfer to the port to board the cruise ship for the expedition cruise through the Beagle Channel and the Straits of Magellan. 4th and 5th Day: On the cruise, weather permitting, you'll visit Cape Horn Island, with its Albatross Monument and lighthouse, take a hike at Wailua Bay, where Charles Darwin and British Captain Robert FitzRoy encountered the Yamana Aborigines, ride in Zodiacs for an up-close view of several glaciers and ice fields, and visit the penguins at Magdalena Island. Enjoy gourmet food and drink and many activities on board ship. 6th Day: Disembark at Punta Arenas, Chile, transferring to a bus to Torres del Paine National Park. At the hotel, enjoy dinner and a view of the towering peaks. 7th Day: Spend today on a full-day excursion around the park. Declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978, the park is famous for its spectacular granite spires, beautiful lakes and incredible glaciers. 8th Day: Today you travel by bus back over the border to El Calafate. Located on Lago Argentino, El Calafate is the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park and the Perito Moreno Glacier. Afternoon at leisure to explore the town and stroll along the lake. 9th Day: Visit Los Glaciares National Park and the Perito Moreno glacier, the largest glacier in Patagonia. You'll view the glacier from the "catwalks," then take a short boat ride to the edge of the Glacier, where you'll don crampons and embark on our mini-trek right on the glacier. At the end of the trek, you'll sample a drink chilled with 10,000-year-old ice right from the glacier. 10th Day: Today you board a large comfortable boat to view many more glaciers and the massive ice fields left by calving glacier Upsala in Onelli Bay. You will view the Spegazzini glacier, and another side of the Perito Moreno Glacier. With luck, you´ll witness the spectacular calving of a glacier as the towering mass of ice crashes into the water. 11th Day: Fly from El Calafate back to Buenos Aires, and spend the rest of the day at leisure shopping or exploring more of this great city. In the evening you may want to take in an optional tango show. 12th Day: Transfer to the airport for your flight home, bringing plenty of photos and memories of this wonderful land near the southern tip of the world.
